DAY 3: YEREVAN/ KHORVIRAP/GARNI/GEGHARD

  • Khor Virap Monastery

Early departure for Khor Virap Monastery (4-17cc), which is close to Mount Ararat from the Bible. The nearest location to the mount where we can stop for a photo is right here. The significance of the church is tied to Grigor Illuminator, who spent 13 years in prison there for adopting Christianity as the official state religion. Lunch at a neighborhood eatery.  After breakfast, travel to the 13th-century Geghard Monastery, which was carved out of a cave. Ayrivank, which translates to "the Monastery of the Cave," was the monastery's original name. The monastic complex is more formally known as Geghard, or Geghardavank, which means "the Monastery of the Spear." Additionally, the monastery is included as a UNESCO World Heritage Site Continue our journey to Garni Pagan Temple from 1st c. The temple was built by Armenia King Tiridates and was dedicated to the God of Sun Mithra. Garni is the only Hellenistic temple existing nowadays in Armenia. The stairs of the temple are made huge and high which means that every human being climbing up the stairs is condescending to God of Sun.

Overnight at your hotel

Day 4: Yerevan / Tsaghkadzor / Sevan / Yerevan

  • The clean Alpine air is Tsaghkadzor's greatest boast. Armenia is home to several different monasteries, as well as beautiful vistas and scenery. There are many tourist attractions in Tsakhkadzor. Tsaghkadzor, which translates to "Gorge of flowers," is well-deserving of its name since in the spring, it is covered in lush, green forests and flowers, and the scenery is very stunning. The quaint village is encircled by the Tsaghkunyats Mountains. The unusual church, which is situated in the town's north, was built at the start of the 11th century and is regarded as one of Tsaghkadzor's historical treasures. It is a well-maintained building surrounded by stunning mountains and historic crossstones (khachkars). The Kecharis Monastery is a fantastic location to learn more about Tsaghkadzor's past. Drive to Lake Sevan. Here, in Lake Sevan, which has a very beautiful peninsula, we are going to climb many stairs up to see the church located in the peak - Sevanavank, from where opens also a beautiful view to the “blue-eyed” lake.
